Before leaving on my journey, I decided to research a couple of different restaurants and I was super excited to try them out. <br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoXvEypx3SiktQHUR7r5Ap3cq1UYzH4bmLbu5sJnmV2iVLBS-kibjvPddxZB8s07w-TT4UVopxfL0ctYJHxQPiHlR8ypM4tmeO48XMq4jWbcTdGh187D1LQzW36UvcsR8pq6uoTXSKXdTu/s1600/Resized_IMG_20170923_113134_702.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1080" data-original-width="1080" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjoXvEypx3SiktQHUR7r5Ap3cq1UYzH4bmLbu5sJnmV2iVLBS-kibjvPddxZB8s07w-TT4UVopxfL0ctYJHxQPiHlR8ypM4tmeO48XMq4jWbcTdGh187D1LQzW36UvcsR8pq6uoTXSKXdTu/s320/Resized_IMG_20170923_113134_702.jpg" width="320" /></a>Our first stop was Blue Ribbon Fried Chicken in Manhattan’s East Side. The Bromberg Brothers opened Blue Ribbon back in 2013, it is a casual restaurant that’s enthusiastic about their delicious and crispy fried chicken. Now, I know New York is not known for its fried chicken, but let me tell you that Colonel Sanders’ ain’t got nothing on this! The menu includes 9 different chicken sandwiches, delicious sides like their fries with the works, milkshakes, homemade ice cream, and yes, even salads. Another thing that impressed me was their wide selection of <a href="https://www.boylanbottling.com/">Boylon</a> Soda and house made sauces. This place is worth every penny! <br />

After what seemed like an eternity, we found some parking (yes, we drove in the city) and made our way to Eggloo. Now if you are looking for traditional Chinese desserts with a twist, this place is for you. Eggloo uses only fresh and exotic ingredients to produce delicious desserts that are made to order. Their specialty is the Hong Kong waffle, known as Gai Dan Jai, which translates to “little eggs” in Chinese. What does that mean, well unlike traditional waffles, Hong Kong egg waffles use a sweet egg based batter to make a crispy outside and a super soft almost cake like interior. I was recommended to go with the green tea waffle by one of the employees. Trust me it’s worth living for!</div>

Later that evening, back in Long Island, I was treated to a small family owned pizza place that’s been in business for over 40 years called Pat’s Family Pizzeria. What makes a good pizza? I would say love and an appreciation of fresh ingredients. At Pat’s, you get great New York style pizza, and it won’t hurt your pocket. Pat’s makes everything fresh and homemade. Their pizza dough is made fresh and they cold ferment it, that is, they store the dough in the refrigerator after forming it. That helps improve both the flavor and the browning features of the pie. When it comes time for choosing your toppings, just go nuts and pick what you like. I prefer to keep it simple and go with half cheese and half pepperoni.</div>

However, the experience wasn’t all bad, thanks to <a href="http://www.tailgatejoe.com/">TailgateJoe</a>. If you are looking for a great tailgate experience at Jets home games, or if you are simply a visitor like we were, you got to do TailgateJoe. They are at every Jets home game and arrive about 5 hours before the game starts. Now, the tailgate is free and open to everyone, however if you want to partake in the all you can eat and drink awesomeness, they require you to purchase tickets online. I highly recommend you do so. The food was great and the menu changes every home game. And don’t worry beer lovers, they’ve got you covered with classics like Miller Lite as well as other local craft beer favorites. We interacted with several of the Jets fans and they were surprisingly very welcoming.</div>

Years ago, I suggested something that I thought would never happen. Now, not only is it happening, but it’s happening very soon! I love me some Miami Heat basketball. I still reminisce about going to the old Miami Arena to see Glen Rice, Steve Smith, and Rony Seikaly as a kid. I love me some great food as well! I remember going to see a game a few years ago with Nedal Ahmad, CEO of the franchise <a href="http://pinchofactory.com/">Pincho </a>Factory. I said to him, “Boy it’d be nice to enjoy a double Pincho burger while seeing Wade dunk on someone.” After a good laugh, he agreed with me. Well, ladies and gentleman, what was initially meant as a joke is finally happening. The American Airlines Arena, or the “Triple A” as its better known, has announced the newest food and drink options for the upcoming Miami Heat season. Pincho Factory is among those options for the upcoming season! </div>

The menu will include such local favorites as the “Pincho and Tostón” burger, the “Croquetesa,” steak and chicken sub, salad or pincho, fries, and tots. They’ll also offer 627 Ale, a craft beer made solely for Pincho Factory by the <a href="http://wynwoodbrewing.com/">Wynwood Brewing</a> Company. Think of it this way, the Heat have 41 home games! That’s 41 opportunities for us fans to enjoy some of the best burgers and pinchos in town and watch our Miami Heat live! I know I plan to make my way up the stairs, grab some burger goodness, and enjoy the Heat all season long! I hope you’ll be there to join me and LETS GO HEAT!<br />

Live music, beer, karaoke, beer, jazz and blues, more beer, and a bucket full of wings! Located in Coral Gables right next to the University of Miami, Titanic is the perfect hangout spot. Whether you’re watching the big game or just enjoying a few signature drafts during happy hour with friends, Titanic as yet to disappoint me. The food is good and inexpensive and the service is always above average. But let’s talk wings… Bucket O' Wings! There’s just no way to be civilized when eating these wings! I mean unless you’re one of those sophisticated people that uses a knife and fork to eat wings, HA! Crispy oil fried wings piled high in a bucket and covered with Sriracha and Frank's Red Hot ohhhhh! What’s not to love?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgELtgIQlIZy1VwH1W4IBklmjy9GO6AU6L0HKNKEPSOHVbmpIc55TvcrIuy3yf-ahdMKjg_VQlflmaKfPPLMrmk5qxEeNhDWXwAFybBi69NJyzPExX9Qt4orB4LejcbV2LKztGc5O1XTdpZ/s1600/IMG_3765.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgELtgIQlIZy1VwH1W4IBklmjy9GO6AU6L0HKNKEPSOHVbmpIc55TvcrIuy3yf-ahdMKjg_VQlflmaKfPPLMrmk5qxEeNhDWXwAFybBi69NJyzPExX9Qt4orB4LejcbV2LKztGc5O1XTdpZ/s1600/IMG_3765.jpg" height="225" width="320" /></a></div>
<b>4) Bulldog BBQ</b> It’s hard to find decent BBQ in Miami, let along great BBQ. But there’s a hidden gem located on Biscayne Boulevard in North Miami called <a href="http://www.bulldog-bbq.com/the-menu">Bulldog</a> Barbecue. Former Top Chef season 3 contestant and barbecue master, Chef Howard Kleinberg, has made me a true believer. The biscuits are great, the pulled pork is so good I wish I could sleep with it, and “The Heat” burger is one of the best burgers I've ever eaten. With that being said, these smokehouse wings served with their house made buttermilk blue cheese dressing are out-of-this-world good! The skin was crisp, they weren't too hot, and covered with a bold BBQ flavor that I really enjoyed. Yes, the food is a little pricey, but I feel both the quality and quantity of food offered a great value.<br />
<br />

<b>3) Barley: An American Brasserie </b>Another name change but same great food. Owner and Executive Chef Jorgie Ramos is a master or as I like to call him a “mad scientist” when he’s in the kitchen. Located under the Metropolis Condo in Downtown Dadeland everything on the menu you can say yes to! Lechón Hash, the mahi tacos or the fried bone marrow are all excellent, but let’s talk wings. I was fortunate enough to be one of the first to try these fabulous wings. These chicken wings are dressed with a pimiento pepper marmalade, serrano peppers, crushed peanuts, cotija cheese and cilantro. The exterior skin of these wings were crisp, moist and juicy with a distinct fattiness, and the sauce was perfectly emulsified coating the wings. Always-fresh, big and messy, hot and meaty, flavorful wings! Take my word next time you visit <a href="http://www.allpraisethelard.com/#!menus/c14aw">Barley</a> have these wings!<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhktY0eKMv50lrGs0wR52hJjwzdzaSirUIVBbhDg2MsZgsgXhyhVDCKKMP0N1-GyqsWiE4_pBg20FD4qthgA-_GVVQx74E0hkuaYqayEqkPHGbR2OH8vVsv-aI3DUauznXcbE6eoqy529eR/s1600/IMG_3740.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhktY0eKMv50lrGs0wR52hJjwzdzaSirUIVBbhDg2MsZgsgXhyhVDCKKMP0N1-GyqsWiE4_pBg20FD4qthgA-_GVVQx74E0hkuaYqayEqkPHGbR2OH8vVsv-aI3DUauznXcbE6eoqy529eR/s1600/IMG_3740.jpg" height="220" width="320" /></a><div>
<b>2) Blackbrick Chinese</b> I ask this question, is there anything that Chef Richard Hales does that isn't extraordinarily good? I mean, everything at Sakaya Kitchen is amazing. And who doesn't remember the Dim Ssam food truck? One of my favorites. When you think Chinese food you think dim sum, egg rolls, dumplings, duck neck, but you definitely don’t think chicken wings. Well think again! The explosive chili chicken wings at <a href="http://www.midtownchinese.com/menu/">Blackbrick</a> are fire! The best way to describe them is sticky and sweet, deliciously crispy, with a made-from-scratch Thai sweet-chili sauce covered by a mountain of fresh veggies. Juicy and full of flavor and especially spicy, just the way I like it! Believe me, you’ll be licking your fingers.</div>
</div>

<b>1) Sports Grill </b>If you couldn't tell, I take wings very seriously and third times a charm for <a href="http://www.sportsgrillmiami.com/menu/sunset-menu/">Sports Grill</a>. Home of Miami’s Best Chicken Wings! Sports Grill never fails to mention they have the best wings but they can back up the talk. If you’re a big time sports fan coming to cheer your favorite team or just stopping by to enjoy some cold drinks, I promise that their wings will be delicious! They get fresh wings delivered 3-4 times a week. They’re first deep-fried in non-trans-fat oil to get the crispiness, tossed in one of their sauces or rubs and grilled, before making it to your table! Whether you like Buffalo Style, BBQ or garlic wings, DALE wings and the seriously hot “Miami Heat” or my favorite and perfectly charbroiled, special grilled wings. All the wings are crunchy on the outside, moist on the inside, fall-off-the-bone, and full of flavor. Celery and blue cheese are optional because these wings are perfect just as they come.<div>

I
found it! It isn’t in Miami or Wynwood, it’s in Delray Beach! <a href="http://www.eatbbqnow.com/">Smoke BBQ!</a> Executive
Chef and Pitmaster Bryan Tyrell brings authentic Kansas City style smokehouse
barbecue, including pulled pork and a wide variety of craft-beer to put down
your gullet! In addition, Smoke offers cocktails made with quality purées and
in-house simple syrups. Which is wonderful because I love syrups!<br />

garage the smell of bbq filled the air. After a short walk we found ourselves
at Smoke BBQ. As we made our way in I felt like a small part of Kansas City or Texas made its way to sunny South Florida. One of the first things that
caught my attention besides the décor was the massive screen towards the back
of the restaurant and the two additional over-sized projector screens to watch
NFL or college games. FYI Florida Gator fans, Smoke is your official Gator watch party headquarters. The restaurant also features live music weekly. But beware folks, the kitchen shuts down at 10:00 p.m. Food is available after 10, based as part of their late night menu. </div>

We started our meal with the Texas Caviar Bean Dip. This isn’t your traditional bean dip. The black beans are served with yellow corn, green and red peppers, red onion, celery, fresh roma tomatoes, and jalapeños. The tortilla chips are made in house and come with a little kick. A perfect starter for 2-3 people.<br />

I went with the smoke burger and told them to pile their Carolina pulled pork on it! This burger doesn’t mess around. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare and piled high, just the way I like it! For sides, I went with tots and State Fair-winning coleslaw. The coleslaw was just right and the tots were crunchy and a bit on the greasy side, but what are you going to do? They’re tots. When it came time for <a href="http://www.fatgirlhedonist.com/">Fatgirlhedonist</a> to order, she definitely didn't skip a beat! She got a winning combo of their smoked half rack of ribs and Smoke’s 16 hour beef brisket! We couldn’t believe the huge portions and certainly weren't able to finish our meal! The half rack is huge and more importantly, delicious! By far the BEST ribs in South Florida. I’ll say this, you want the best ribs in South Florida, these three places are your best bet, in order; Smoke BBQ, Shiver's BBQ, and good ole Flanigan's. The corn was very good and it comes with a small side of cinnamon butter. Be sure to order two! As a kid I ate macaroni and cheese on what seemed to be a daily basis, and to this day I still indulge on regular basis. Grandma’s mac n’ cheese was perfect. Cheesy and creamy. Great side dish but at Smoke you’ll want to eat a whole plate of it!</div>

For dessert we tore up their “Mud in a Jar”. Warm Chocolate flourless cake at the bottom and topped with ice cream and house made caramel sauce. And it gets your attention making its way to the table with two massive marshmallows hovering atop of everything. I know you were wondering, and yes, it’s definitely looks as good as it tastes. To be honest I almost wish I had two stomachs because their dessert menu is just crazy! In a good way.<br />
<br />
I’m definitely planning a return visit to Smoke. I don’t care that it’s an hour and 18 minutes from where I live. It’s worth the trip! There’s just too many items on that menu I want to try. Like their steamed or fried parmesan brussel sprouts or the banana coconut cream pudding. Good old Southern Hospitality here. The staff and management were very attentive and I noticed the manager made his way to visit each table. If you love BBQ I highly recommend you give Smoke a try. It is a real BBQ experience prepared by a recognized national champion pit master. But hey, like some say, “what do I know?” Right?</div>

I love eating out but also enjoy cooking up a storm at home. Home-prepared meals provide a opportunity for a more balanced and better-portioned meals with fewer calories, sodium and less saturated fat. They can also help you incorporate healthier whole and unprocessed foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and lean meats, into your daily diet. And more often than not they save you a few extra dollars. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
Forget Halloween. The scariest season has begun, “the holidays”. It can be stressful, at times, but it's also a chance to show your loved ones and friends how much you appreciate them. One way to do this is without spending tons of money and bypassing restaurants in favor of good home cooked meal. That's where my friend Gina comes in. Whether you're too busy or just too lazy to do it yourself she’s got you covered. She specializes in home baked goods stretching from cakes to cookies. As for catering, they’ll customize to fit any of your desires. Some of their specialties include Jamaican, Asian, American, and other cuisines. I make it a point just before Thanksgiving to pick up their delicious pumpkin cupcakes and banana bread. </div>

Knaus Berry Farm's is back! The Knaus family has operated the farm and bakery in the rural Redland area just off Krome Ave south of Miami for over 50 years. After a six month hiatus they’re back! Knaus Berry store is open from now until mid-April of next year. So what are you waiting for? Plan a trip down south like I did and feast on some of the freshest strawberries, assorted baked goods, homemade bread, vegetables, ice cream, honey, jams and jellies, herbs, and of course their world famous cinnamon rolls! As a reminder Knaus Berry takes cash only and is closed on Sundays. If you’re planning on going Saturday get there early! I got there Friday at 1pm and waited almost 45 minuets in line. Knaus Berry Farm is located at 15980 SW 248th St, Homestead, FL 33031. Also feel free to call ahead and place your order (305) 247-0668.</div>

As the Miami Dolphins gear up for the 2014 NFL football season on the field, the organization is embarking on an initiative to enhance the culinary experience for fans at Sun Life Stadium. Throughout the off season, the Dolphins launched a campaign to find out what food options us Dolfans wanted to enjoy during game day. Suggestions were taken from fans across the spectrum. Consequently, the Dolphins selected seven restaurants based on the fan feedback, quality of the products, value, and local variety in the South Florida area. Miami Dolphins President & CEO Tom Garfinkel said, “We had a great response from fans about the food they wanted and went out to try to deliver many of their request.” He also went on to say, “One of the things that’s very important to us is getting the food and the concessions as good as it can be.” I couldn’t agree more. Thanks to this campaign, Dolfans can now feast on a large range of edible delicacies.<br />

This unique offering will give fans the opportunity of crafting their own Italian masterpiece. You can pick from different meats, vegetables, herbs and sauces; and it’s cooked right in front of you and onto a healthy pile of penne pasta. I say pair it with your favorite wine or beer before heading back to your seat.</div>

Just the fact that the organization took the time, money, and effort to do this, speaks volumes about how important the fans are to them. The large array of dining options located throughout the stadium will allow fans to indulge in whatever food they’re in the mood for on game day at a somewhat reasonable price. Let us all hope we can be as excited about the product they put on the field. Go Dolphins!<br />

Thanks to the Burger Beast the Second Annual Frita Showdown happened at Miami's very own Magic City Casino for the second consecutive year. Once a premier South Florida dog race venue, now a casino and concert venue. But just a couple of weeks ago, it served as the battle ground for some of the Miami's best Fritas. Once inside, I made a B-line for the sangria booth where Sangria Don Chu was serving up, what they claim, is the "best sangria in town." I definitely enjoyed a cup. As for best sangria? Well my mom still holds that title.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiYqLtRom9rxItdSOSiD3wmPMVO7fouAWEH80Ui1BKcFLfcNwg-EasrBoJShHjjrMMQWu8s0BnZn_CopxSQiI7Q4mrpgCl8UjOb7iWz-AFs24LOiPlX2gld7q5pxixN-2cVjezBpLKjK7p/s1600/photo.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiYqLtRom9rxItdSOSiD3wmPMVO7fouAWEH80Ui1BKcFLfcNwg-EasrBoJShHjjrMMQWu8s0BnZn_CopxSQiI7Q4mrpgCl8UjOb7iWz-AFs24LOiPlX2gld7q5pxixN-2cVjezBpLKjK7p/s1600/photo.JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As I went down the line of Frita competitors first up was Bread+Butter located in Coral Gables. Chef Alberto submitted his infamous 'Frita China'. Delicious as always! Great, flavorful, juicy patty. Just the first one and I almost casted my vote.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzR_nJYop1tuIJLF5rcUscPv-yVNO9mO2SzCVbroFLXf_lhS_4EhdI3reb7FKs9O9an0n2w3Cg7DE1PPXeLQjdx8j-Bywt9juZnrwO3MhRiFrAFLN3_0r-lxKEyodf3RQU63ptYj4eifUJ/s1600/photo+(1).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzR_nJYop1tuIJLF5rcUscPv-yVNO9mO2SzCVbroFLXf_lhS_4EhdI3reb7FKs9O9an0n2w3Cg7DE1PPXeLQjdx8j-Bywt9juZnrwO3MhRiFrAFLN3_0r-lxKEyodf3RQU63ptYj4eifUJ/s1600/photo+(1).JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Second were the Cuban Guys. A new chain of Cuban fast food to Miami. They showcased their basic Frita in full size, no samplers here! They brand their very fresh tasting Cuban bread on every order.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGOSbmALsMHe18F30lyAnPqDXjc8qO8hA0fCur0W109PHgSFKxMczUwW6kaXbU3UgYACEPPKhkffXDi0FXrEvTtPY_ddKr8nkevR2T62I0bCewl6N3szcuWons0bU8zkdMn010BCYymkrk/s1600/photo+(2).JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGOSbmALsMHe18F30lyAnPqDXjc8qO8hA0fCur0W109PHgSFKxMczUwW6kaXbU3UgYACEPPKhkffXDi0FXrEvTtPY_ddKr8nkevR2T62I0bCewl6N3szcuWons0bU8zkdMn010BCYymkrk/s1600/photo+(2).JPG" height="400" width="300" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next down the line was FINKA Table and Tap. The brand new Cuban/Peruvian/Korean place down in Kendall. There's a lot of buzz about this place so I was excited to taste their Fritas. Which I was sad to find out are not on their menu and were only available at the Showdown. It was very good.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The always classic and quintessential Frita from non other than the wizard himself, El Mago de las Fritas. An absolute work of art.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The main event of this years Showdown was the collaboration between one of Miami's best burger joints and a Miami staple. A fried croqueta burger from Pincho Factory served with a heaping side of Rio Critals famous fries. It was something you just had to witness and try for yourself! Ohhh Pincho!</div>

Latin House grill, celebrating their new brick and mortar place, was also competing with their own take on a Frita, adding cheese and big chip slices (a big no-no.. NO in my Frita book.)</div>

I’m not sure how many of you have the same problem as I do, but I constantly crave Mexican food! It’s not a bad thing, but it is a bad thing to indulge that craving at a "Mexican" fast food place (that shall remain nameless) or a place that advertises “gourmet” Mexican food. Luckily for us in Miami, there’s a small gem tucked away in the heart of little Havana. Y déjame decirte que la comida es deliciosa! Mi Rinconcito Mexicano located on 1961 SW 8th street has everything we authentic Mexican food lovers crave. Although the outside leaves a bit to be desired, the homey feel inside and delicious food more than make up for that. The welcoming atmosphere and amazing dishes are completed by the friendly staff and an overwhelmingly inviting owner, who treats his patrons like family. This restaurant is simple and very casual, but the quality of the food and the value of the prices make it an ideal spot for us Mexican food lovers. There is also a bakery within the restaurant, where one can indulge in. Check out my lunch choices below. Oh and by the way everything for under $20! Go and get it!</div>

As I made my way into Meat Market, I knew I wasn’t at your average steakhouse. It gave me the impression of a New York steakhouse, but with a Miami twist: sexy, modern, sleek, were just some of the words that came to mind as I made my way to the bar which also doubled as a Crudo bar. I couldn’t take my eyes off the beautiful wine closet they had and the intimate dining area. Just seconds after sitting down at the bar we were pleasantly greeted by the bartender and she suggested some house creations from the drink menu. I complicated her life a bit by ordering the "Highland Sandia" and later "Some Like it Hot," while my friend kept it simple with a Captain Morgan and Coke. </div>

Growing up with a family who enjoyed great food, Chef Sean learned different cooking techniques working in kitchens throughout his high school and college years. By the age of 20 and already a chef, he went to the Madeleine Kamman School for American Chefs at Beringer Vineyards. After mastering the kitchen, Chef Sean refined his techniques by self-training and seeing different type of dishes working in New York, San Francisco, and New Mexico. The freshness of ingredients and knowing where they came from is at the top of his list. When Chef Sean landed in Miami 13 years ago he started Touch restaurant. After 10 years and plenty of success he began his work at Meat Market. Chef Sean gave me a behind the scenes look at how they make their wagyu and daily special burger.<br />

Before we get to the burger, we started our lunch with the slow braised BBQ short rib empanadas. These aren't ordinary empanadas you’ll find in some rinky-dinky bakery. These came with Fontana cheese, apple blue cheese salad, and a delicious honey chipotle BBQ. A great choice to start off a meal or if you're looking for a quick lunch. These empanadas are also great with their homemade touch of fire mango and scotch bonnet sauce.<br />

The wagyu burger is made from scraps left from wagyu skirt steak, ribeye, shoulder, and prime ribeye. When grinding the meat they keep it as cold as possible, not only preserving flavor and freshness, but maintaining food safety standards and regulations. They chop up the mixed cuts and chop up the fat and mix it all together frozen. By the time it gets ground, its only semi frozen which keeps the fat from emulsifying in with the proteins.</div>

For example, if they save up smoked short ribs they grind that, or the bison scarps. They have made a combination of meats to grind for the special burger. Saving all the wagyu and Kobe fat and mix it in with their grinds at a 30% fat to meat ratio. All this making a delicious burger at the end trust me! </div>

Meat Market's sexy vibe, intimate atmosphere, bartenders who should be modeling and decadent menu makes it, in my opinion the hottest restaurant on Lincoln Road. I believe you get what you pay for. In all honesty after a trip to Meat Market if you aren't completely satisfied you really need to look yourself in the mirror.</div>

Looking for something hot and spicy? Well the next time you visit Key West, be sure to stop by Peppers of Key West! It’s a small, fun shop that’s set up as a "bar," but you won’t find any beer or liquor here... just plenty of hot sauce and tortilla chips. At Peppers of Key West they carry some of the world’s best hot sauces, and as I came to find out, some of world’s hottest hot sauces. If you’re looking for a personal favorite, a hard-to-find hot sauce, or simply want to try something new, you are definitely at the right spot. In addition to hot sauces, Peppers of Key West also has a large selection of pepper related food items. Everything from exotic fruit sauces to snack dips.</div>

Here, the friendly and knowledgeable staff will allow you to taste endless samples. You simply sit at the "bar," and they immediately provide you with tortilla chips and begin inquiring about what you're looking for or what you want to try. I tried various samples with very distinct and unexpected flavors: mango, coconut, pineapple, banana, jalapeños, habaneros, etc. Aside from allowing me to try all these incredible varieties of hot sauce, the "bartender" gave me suggestions for what I could pair each particular sauce with. </div>

The unit of measurement for hot sauce is the Scoville. This scale was developed by Wilbur Scoville in 1912. In the interest of not boring you to tears with the logistics of the test, it is easier to say it measures the amount of capsaicin, the chemical that makes peppers hot, found within a particular pepper or sauce. As an example, bell peppers, because they are not spicy at all, have a Scoville rating of 0. Pure capsaicin has measurement of 15,000,000 Scoville units. Ouch!!! Average (not extremely spicy) hot sauces do not indicate their particular measurement, but the hotter ones surely advertise it and brag about the Scoville units found within. If you would like to find out more information or details about this scale, you can always visit the Peppers website at <a href="http://www.peppercentral.com/scoville-scale.html.">Pepper Central</a> I am also providing a table where all of you can compare different common spices by their Scoville measurement.</div>

Last week, my bud, Marvin aka <a href="http://twitter.com/MRMiamiMarvin">"Mr. Miami"</a> and I, took a small road trip to my second home down south in the Florida Keys. We made our way past Key Largo and Tavernier until we reached this small gem located in a small strip mall in Islamorada called MEAT Eatery & Tap Room. Ever heard the term, “good things come in small packages?” Well that’s exactly what you’ll find here. The decor, a laid back atmosphere, and especially the food and staff are fantastic. </div>

I took us a while to figure out what we wanted, everything sounded amazing. They offer a dozen draft beers, organic wines, micro brewed sodas,"milkshakes" (for adults only) and the bacon takes two weeks to make and it’s also made in house. Not to mention, they make their own homemade sauces.<br />

Mind you, these aren't the ones you buy in a plastic bag in Sedano's. These puppies came to the table fresh from the fryer still crackling! They are a bit spicy but nothing too serious. When it was time for the main course we were in burger heaven. I went with the "Inside Out, Juicy-Lucy" burger. It comes stuffed with bacon and pimento cheese, topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomato and I added their housemade bacon, and house pickled jalapenos. I decided to get a little fancy and upgrade to the duck fat truffled bistro fries on the side. On the other hand, Marvin went with the American Wagyu burger with cheese, bacon, and beer braised onions. Both burgers were truly gourmet, unlike anything I've ate before in the Keys.</div>

Are you tired of fish sandwiches or so called “world famous” tuna nachos? In the mood for a cold beer and the best burger in the Keys? Well get yourself on to the overseas HWY and head to MM 88. There, you’ll find <a href="http://meateatery.com/">MEAT</a>! Sure, it's not upscale, doesn't have a view of the water, or a traditional gastropub, but it’s a great addition to the Keys dinning scene. Do yourself a favor, stop on by… trust me.</div>

So I decided to stop in for lunch one afternoon and see what the fuss was all about. The restaurant is small, but trendy and very decorative. The dining room area is decked out with cool coiled light bulbs, vintage Cuban photos, mason jars, books, with the poem "Cultivo una Rosa Blanca" by José Martí's written on a wall. There is also a small L-shaped bar and counter. Agua is served the old school way in small tin cups, very nostalgic for those of us that remember them growing up. Alberto Cabrera is a genius, this place essentially is Miami’s first Cuban-gastropub.<br />

They come with soda crackers and mustard aioli. Even though I’m not a big fan of the small round croquetas some of these "modern" restaurants are making, I liked these. TIP: Make sure to dip your croquetas in the aioli, but avoid the dreaded double dip. From there we moved on to the Frita China with napa cabbage kimchee, cilantro, onion, papitas juliana and sriracha ketchup. WOW! Love this frita! Everything came together perfectly. Finally, we indulged in their Cheeseburger! This masterpiece came with bacon, tomato, onion, Swiss cheese, and their house made b+b pickles and steak sauce. Not for the faint of heart, this cheeseburger is piled high with juicy meat, melted cheese and freshly baked bread.</div>

For dessert you must try the flan. Their Flan Cabrera uses creamy Humboldt Fog goat cheese, which makes it a bit tangy. It also contains the customary ingredient of evaporated milk, and is uniquely baked in one of the empty milk cans and served with citrus slices on top. They're small and a little hard to find, but when you’re in the Downtown Coral Gables area, I suggest you make your way to 2330 Salzedo St. Come in for breakfast, lunch, dinner or their Sunday brunch to try traditional Cuban dishes with a modern spin. I'm sure you’ll find something that you can really enjoy.<br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
If there’s a restaurant that meets and exceeds my expectations every time I visit its Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink. Opening its doors in the spring of 2007 in the Miami Design District, Chef Michael Schwartz uses only the best local and organic foods. Whether you’re visiting or live in South Florida his restaurant is a must-visit! The Harris Ranch Black Angus Burger comes in at number five! Black Angus house ground with Vermont white cheddar cheese, crispy smoked bacon on a brioche bun. Indulge yourself in this burger! You’ll be sure to recognize the freshness and technique that goes into every dish, especially this one.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
“We believe the people deserve better.” That’s exactly what you get every time you walk into Pincho Factory. With two location serving Miami, on 98th and Bird Road and the newly opened Coral Gables location at 32 Giralda Ave, you have no excuse not to try it! Over 30 Pincho Burgers have gone down my gullet. Not sure if I should be broadcasting that, but yea it’s that damn good! Fresh chuck, brisket, and short rib patties, with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, melty cheese, potato sticks, and their homemade pink sauce topped on freshly baked bread. And if you’re feeling hungry don’t hesitate to make it a double!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3) <a href="http://www.dbbistro.com/miami/">db Bistro</a></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Original DB Burger, served at db Bistro Moderne restaurant in Brickell is the essence of high-end burgers. By far it’s the most decadent burger I’ve ever eaten. At $34, it’s also the most expensive burger I’ve eaten. Is it worth every penny? I say yes! And that’s why it comes in at number three. From the moment they bring it to your table, you’re in awe. A sirloin burger filled with braised short rib, foie gras, black truffle, and served on a parmesan bun. db Bistro is first class all the way, this bistro blazes with its sleek, contemporary décor, exceptional service, and menu choices.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

2) <a href="http://www.rokbrgr.com/">ROK:BRGR</a></div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, ROK:BRGR is the best burger joint in South Florida! Don’t believe me go try it yourself. With locations in Fort Lauderdale and South Miami no other restaurant has better burger options on their <a href="http://www.rokbrgr.com/eat/miami-menu/">menu.</a> This magnificent specimen you see above is the King James Burger.It comes with creamy brie, kurobuta pork belly, red onion marmalade, truffle aioli, on a freshly baked bread. Cooked to a perfect medium-rare and served with their delicious sweet potato fries. Visit them on Monday’s for BRGR:Bash. Every burger on the menu is only $10 and craft beers only $4!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br />
I found Miami’s number one burger! I give you The Swine Burger. And you can get one at Swine Southern Table & Bar in Coral Gables. When I think of Swine, one word comes to mind, delicious. The Swine burger comes with short rib, brisket and smoked pork blend, homemade dill pickles, a thick slab of house cut bacon, lettuce, tomato, double American cheese, and Swine’s special sauce. The best way to describe it- burger porn! It’s tender and juicy and melts in your mouth. It’ll have you wanting a second and a third!<br />

Dine in this historic restaurant or outside under the palm tree landscaping with a nice view of the water. Located at the end of Matheson Hammock Park this is one of the best seafood restaurants I've had the pleasure of dining at. With <a href="http://ilovemiamispice.com/">Miami Spice</a> in full swing my friends and I decide to pay a visit. </div>

It’s a little spicy but not too much and I loved the dish. It somewhat reminds me of a Peruvian dish a friend of mine cooked up for me. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

This is the first dish where I combined fish and plantains. It was amazing and very tasty. I love eating mahi, it’s an appetizing fish low in carbohydrates and fat, so it is a healthful choice for almost any diet. It also tastes great by itself, needing only simple herbs and spices. The mahi was flavorful, dense, and cooked to perfection.</div>

Hanger steak or "butcher's steak" offers a full, beefy flavor and the richness of more costly cuts of meat like ribeye or NY strip, without paying an arm and a leg. The dish was accompanied with arugula, crispy malaga fries, and tamarind steak sauce. In case you’re wondering, yes, it taste as good as is looks. My friend greatly enjoyed his dish. Even though it was a little over cooked for his taste. My friend’s wife decide to skip the Miami Spice menu for the Chilean Sea Bass. A great choice with crispy panko garlic sesame crust, sautéed spinach, shitake mushrooms, ginger sushi rice, and sake soy mirin reduction. I mean who can blame her. If you’re a fan of sea bass this is the dish for you. And if you've never tried it I say to you give swordfish a break.</div>

The Coconut Flan just didn't do it for me. It’s not that is wasn't good but honestly I've had better. And that includes in my own kitchen. I would definitely recommend Red Fish Grill especially for Miami Spice. The staff is friendly, great ambiance, and I highly suggest this place for couples or a first date. I'm already looking forward to my return visit.</div>

So when some classic Southern cooking opened back in March close to home, I knew I was in for a treat. For the past few months I've heard a buzz about <a href="http://www.runpigrun.com/">Swine</a> Southern Table & Bar located in Coral Gables. After reading the reviews I needed to find out for myself what the fuss was all about. After all I love me some swine and a good strong whiskey.<br />

From the moment you walk in, it feels like you've been transported to the Old West. I personally love the décor. It’s rustic, simple, and non-pretentious. One more thing me and my party noticed was it's rather hot inside and the music was a little too loud. Not a big deal but with the restaurant full it did make conversations a bit difficult. For some strange reason Swine doesn't take reservations. So we made our way to the upstairs bar for a couple of drinks while we waited for a table. After looking at the extensive drink menu I started off with Homestead Bound. Very refreshing drink I really enjoyed it. Mind you it was $16. Later I wanted to try the Middleton Very Rare, a premium blended Irish whiskey but not for $30! So I settled for Crown Royal which set me back $13. After tip I spent $37 on just two drinks and we hadn't even begun to eat.<br />

Our server was Cameron, we has very welcoming and knowledgeable about the entire menu. He suggested for starters we have the Grilled Sausage Dou (Pictured above to your left). I must say it’s utterly delicious. The plate includes- Andouille, Cajun boudin, pickles, grilled bread, and their homemade mustard, and pimento cheese. For dinner I ordered the Chicken & Dumplin’s and Mac & Cheese while my friends went with the Dry-rub ribs, and Meat Loaf. The Chicken & Dumplin’s were amazing, that brick-cooked chicken was divine and the serving was just to my liking. Mac & Cheese "forget about it" damn good! So good we ordered a second serving! The ribs were good, just good. Perhaps I’m being bias due to the fact I’m a sauce lover but truthfully it was also a small serving. Seriously for $32 I expect a full rack of ribs! No argument, don’t care! Full rack! The meat loaf was first-class, small but it had great flavor and perfectly cooked.<br />

Swine offers a delectable brunch on both Saturday and Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm, and they do accept reservations for brunch. The smoked pulled pork sandwich is insanely good! Comes with red cabbage slaw, fried shoestring onions, and Carolina mustard que. Not to be outdone the Swine burger! One of the best burgers I've ever had. I’ll go as far to say one of the best burgers in Miami! That brisket makes it happen. My sweet tooth was calling and that’s where the coffee cake comes in. Plain and simple I loved brunch and looking forward to trying their brisket steak & eggs.</div>

At the end of the day I would definitely recommend Swine. I would also recommend that if you’re on a Taco Bell budget you might want to skip it. I really enjoyed the ambiance, service, décor, and food. It’s not pretentious or snotty unlike some other restaurants in the area. For my liking Swine is a great date venue, a fantastic place for brunch or grab a few whiskeys and catch up with friends for happy hour. Thumbs up.</div>

May is National Burger Month and what a great idea to close it out by gathering some of Miami's top chefs for a burger party. <a href="http://pinchofactory.com/">Pincho Factory </a>one of my favorite local restaurants will be hosting the National Hamburger Month Closing Party on Friday May 31st at Midnight. Joining the master mind Nedal Ahmad of Pincho Factory will be Chef Danny Serfer of Blue Collar, Chef Josh Marcus of Josh’s Deli and from the 50 Eggs group Chef Phil Bryant of Swine Southern Table & Bar. Be sure to get your tickets by visiting <a href="http://burgerbeast.com/">The Burger Beast</a>.</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
For the second year Travel Channel’s Andrew Zimmern hosted Food Trucks on Midtown’s Tracks for the 2013 South Beach Wine & Food Festival. An event showcasing Miami’s ever-growing food truck scene. Held in the Wynwood neighborhood, more than 20 food trucks participated in the event this year, most from Florida. I really enjoyed this year’s event. The best part of this years event, NO SAND! It was held under a massive tent where all the trucks easily parked. There was a little bit everything: air hockey, pool, and Ping-Pong tables, as well as basketball backboards, and guests in line had their wine glass refilled by volunteers pouring Brazilian sparkling wine provided by Wines of Brasil. There was a wide range of cuisine available. Burgers, pizza, grilled cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, fish sausage, waffles, cookies, frozen yogurt, cupcakes, and gelato. I had to pace myself in order to try every dish, it wasn't easy.<br />
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

<div style="text-align: left;">
By the end of the evening, Zimmern picked <a href="http://www.slowfoodtruck.com/">Slow Food Truck's </a>"Beef Shorty Slider" topped with queso fresco, arugula, and crispy shallots as his choice for the event's winner. Personally I was quite surprised. I didn't “WOW” me. But I for one think that the fan vote counts more and for the second straight year <a href="http://mscheezious.com/">Ms. Cheezious</a> had the most poker chips and took home People’s Choice. Their “South in Your Mouth Melt” with smoked BBQ pulled pork, fried pickles and cheddar on Texas toast was as my mom put it, increíble! I whole heartily agreed.</div>
